HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY
BASICS
Thoroughly clean the entire house (vacuum carpet, mop hard floors, clean countertops, clean windows)
Replace all burned out light bulbs
Turn all over headlights and lamps ON
Turn all ceiling fans OFF
Turn all TVs and computer screens OFF
Open blinds/window treatments to let in outside light
Place all shoes, jackets, purses, and other personal items in closets
KITCHENS
Remove excess appliances and clear counters as much as possible
Remove trash cans and recycling bins
Remove soap dispensers
Remove rugs and floor mats
Remove dish towels and sponges
Remove any magnets or any clutter on refrigerator
Remove pet toys and food bowls
BEDROOMS
Make the bed and fluff the pillows
In children’s rooms remove most toys, stage large toys
Remove clutter from dressers and night stands
Remove trash cans, hampers, diaper cans, toss boxes, etc.
LIVING AREAS
Clean up Clutter
Clear coffee table
Remove kids toys unless designated play space, then cleans the area
Remove remote controls
Hide wires from electronics if possible
BATHS
Clear countertops and bath/shower completely of all personal items and toiletries
Remove trash can
Put toilet seats down
Remove dirty towels - leave out only clean, unused towels
Remove rugs and floor mats
Clean mirrors, windows and shower doors
EXTERIOR
Cut the lawn and rake up leaves
Put all toys and garden hoses away
Remove trash cans
Stage outdoor furniture
Open umbrellas
